becoming a package maintainer

Hello, everyone i was in the testing team for a months now my skills are bash and python scripting and c programming and i would like to be a package maintainer. But becoming it is not easy the archwiki says you need sponsorship which i don't know where to get i am not only proefficient with compiling packages but also digging into source code and checking for basic issues. i am familiar with package managers like apt,dnf and how to package for them so i don't think pacman packaging will be difficult any explaination beyond the wiki is helpful here. Also feel free to reply with your role for archlinux i would like to know

Again thanks everyone smile

Re: becoming a package maintainer

Hey khaalid,

do you already have some experience with AUR packaging? smile
This is also seen as a prerequisite to becoming a package maintainer

Generally try to stick around in the communities (i.e. on IRC), via Merge Requests on the Official Packages and the bug  tracker so people get to know you and you can maybe establish the basis for a sponsorship.

Also a good question to ask yourself is why you want to become a Package Maintainer..?

Since you asked for roles I am one of the Testing Team Admins, part of the DevOps Team, a Package Maintainer and a Bug Wrangler, so if you have any (more specific) questions feel free to ask, I will try my best to answer!
