Re: System Fatal Error CPU:0

how do i boot with multi-user?

2nd link below
I don't think that the misconfigured vmware network causes the reboot, but the timeout will help to assert whether the reboot is random (if it always runs down the clock the same amount before rebooting)

No it doesn't boot with multi user

Re: System Fatal Error CPU:0

You did add "systemd.unit=multi-user.target nomodeset" to the kernel parameters?
Post the journal of that boot.

My boot partition isn't registering in bios anymore so I'll try in archiso

Re: System Fatal Error CPU:0

Please stop bumping the thread, edit your previous post if nobody has yet replied.
The only question is

Ubuntu worked

is this still the case and reliable, ie. can you boot anything.
In that case, please post a journal from ubuntu:

sudo journalctl -b | curl -F 'file=@-' 0x0.st

Also try to boot arch into the multi-user.target along "nomodeset"

When I login it resets and I said my boot entry disappeared after I tried just multi-user.target on my arch installation

When you logged in wher? Ubuntu? Arch iso? Local system? multi-user.target? multi-user.target AND nomodeset?

You might benefit from https://deepl.com/

Re: System Fatal Error CPU:0

Maybe the fact that you left the impression that you might be in need of a translation service tells you something…

So Ubuntu factually also doesn't work - try the multi-user.target along nomodeset.
Do you see any chance to get access to a budget GPU w/ low power demands (at least over the WE)?

The only time i didn't use modeset was when i tried on my arch installation, no I'm in school and don't work a job right now. I'm also curious what makes you say i need a translation service, my writing is usually fine.

Let's say you're posting thought fragments lol

The kernel parameter is "nomodeset", which is equivalent to not using "kernel modesetting", you're supposed to use the "nomodeset" kernel parameter along "systemd.unit=multi-user.target", regardless of the attempted system and report about the impact.

The working theory is still that your GPU starves the CPU; the hope is that blocking KMS might prevent that - a better confirmation would be a low-power GPU replacement.
I assume your school reference (so you're probably underage - sorry if I came off as mean, I don't generally assume to be talking to kids) was meant to be a response to that suggestion and implying that you do not have the budget even for a budget GPU?
You don't need to buy/own one: if you can lend one (eg. as mentioned over the weekend) that would be sufficient to test whether the above theory can stand.

Re: System Fatal Error CPU:0

Maybe i can get my friends gt7300 or whatever it is that he has from a mac device, im not sure why my gpu would starve the cpu though i have an either an 850 or 650 watt psu which should be more than enough

Re: System Fatal Error CPU:0

It's not the output on the PSU but the distribution on the board - did you ever check the dedicated power connectors on the GPU?
The theory is largely driven by the colported circumstantces of the the spontanous reboot (kms/GUI activation) and that your CPU is prone to that behavior anyway.

nb. that the GT7300 isn't supported by the current binary nvidia drivers, you'll have to use nouveau (or nomodeset, the latter implying that you can't use a GUI)

The Connections are fine unless on the psu directly and not the gpu

Re: System Fatal Error CPU:0

I'll assume you mean the plugs are firmely attached to the GPU, but you cannot assess their condition inside the PSU.
Another thing is to make sure to actually having used the PEG slot for the GPU, which is a designated x16 PCIe slot (consult the board manual about this)

Re: System Fatal Error CPU:0

Yeah it's the right slot, I tried the GPU from said friend which was like a GT 1300 or something but I couldn't get it to work at all on my PC. Might be because it came from a Mac Pro though.

The alternative is improper cooling, the GPU heats up, overheats the CPU and sends that into an emergency shutdown.
In that case, pointing a giant room-ventilator at the open system would at least delay the impact.

Have you tried another PCIe slot (this might result in an unstable GPU, but probably the system won't shut down)

My only other pcie slot is a x8 in x16 form factor, right now a network card is there but I can just swap the two
