text highlighting in Irb and Python
Noticed coloured syntax of irb in a terminal screenshot how is it set up under Arch ?

Colored python syntax? You can do that in any editor that supports syntax highlighting. vim, nano, emacs, to name a few.

Yep that's Ipython alright, but I personally prefer using IDLE for quick checking rather the plain command-line interactive prompt.
