The Arch Download page directs to this page https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/ … -/packages for downloading iso designed for VM
It opens in Package Registery which I don't think is the right page
Opening the Releas tab - its all in source code.
I am not familiar with compiling.
Is compiling from source the only way to get the iso for Vbox?
Thanks

The images are there if you click on the relevant release:
https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/ … kages/1528
No "compiling" needed. The images look to be built by CI, hence their appearance in the "package registry" section.

I see - I clicked the wrong link.
Just to confirm - its better to use the virtualbox image rather than the normal arch.iso?
and is this (from the website https://is.gd/DLNoxh) the public key with which to valide authenticity of files?

Of those images the one with virtualbox in the name appears to be intended for vagrant installations .
For local installation you could try with one of the basic images.
What do you intend to use the installed VM for ?
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

I may be missing something here, but if your goal is to install arch linux inside a VM, then you should use the regular arch iso and follow the instructions of the installation guide on our wiki. If you use some installed vbox image that someone else already created, then 1) you will not understand how it is set up or configured, and 2) you will not be able to get help with it on these forums.

I am just inteding on learning linux
I am trying to learn the more complicated installs - so arch...
I have installed the normal iso - it works
but the download page suggested to use virutalbox specific images
I also have a difficulty with where toget the right public key for verifying the download

its better to use the virtualbox image rather than the normal arch.iso?
That depends on your needs. I would hazard that the dedicated images are more suited to mass deployments, especially when used in combination with ansible or similar frameworks, whereas the ISO image approach would be appropriate for a "personal" VM but I don't actually use VirtualBox[1] so this is just a guess.
