Is it possible to cite sources in the Arch Wiki? If not, will it be?

I came across this old (2012) forum post about how citations are implemented in Mediawiki — support is implemented through an extension. It appears that the Arch Wiki doesn't currently support them. Is there a plan to support them? If not, will there be? If not, why?

Re: Is it possible to cite sources in the Arch Wiki? If not, will it be?

We do not use fully fledged citations. However, we often use normal links in square brackets. Like this:

This claim is backed up by a source.[https://xkcd.com/285/]

Another example: For further information, please see the upstream documentation at https://pacman.archlinux.page/.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Help:S … 22_section

We do not require sources for everything but adding them is definitely good practice.
If claims are especially dubious and no source is given, they may be reverted or have a Template:Accuracy slapped on them.
