Where is Thunar reading the MimeTypes/Default Apps?

Hi,

here https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/XDG_MIME_Applications is a list of 5 files where default applications can be stored. I deletes all the files. so when i right click on a file there shouldn't be any application to open the file with. For the most file the list is empty but for jpg ristretto is the default application and gwenview as second application. There must be something more where the system read the mimetypes? Can the mimetypes also be written from the *.desktop files?

Many of those locations are for systemwide settings and managed by pacman .
Deleting pacman managed files is a bad idea.

Create a new user , configure just enough to get thunar running .
Does that thunar have the same behaviour ?

The answer to that will help to determine if this is a systemwide or user setting issue.

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky
