freigeist, your version of the Arch logo reminds me a lot of Nike's. My advise is to keep it like the original.
And a dual monitors wallpaper would be great!!! Just had to say that again

+1 for #9 with a space (or should I say #11?), and the one with your own design is quite nice too!

Great artwork! I like it.. especially #9 (with or without a space).
A short question though: is it just me or... in #9... only the text is centered and the logo is a bit higher?

freigeist, I told you #9/12 will win. (and #7 is almost the same)
The poll itself is useless, because it hasn't been edited yet.

Yes, you are right.

Sorry...what is wrong with number 9?

Nothing wrong. IceRAM just mentioned that text is centered and logo is on top of it, so I suppose his wish was that both text and logo were first grouped and then centered.
But it's OK even as it is now, IMHO.

I think that the "four Arches" theme makes for a good background, but is not so good as a logo. "Officialzing" anything somewhat contradicts the idea of user contributions.
freigeist: I think that you should take the writing & logo out of 11. and 12., transform it to a SVG and load it up under artwork at archlinux.org. So that everyone can combine this with his/her favorite wallpaper, scale it, and move it around freely at the desktop. (I myself, for example, usually use the KDE arch-Superkarama theme in some corner, so I cannot cope with your version of writing & logo in the centre - looks too crowded. Other people may have desktop icons etc.).
Anyway, your work keeps improving, rather than downgrading

my vote 'd go for 9 as well

Why? In my opinion good user contributions should be officialized if they are worth...maybe the logo is not good, but denying the possibility of user contributions becoming official really perplexes me

I'm too tired to register myself to art.archlinux.org. My two sons really kept me busy today. Here is the svg, mess around, upload it, whatever...
Beware that the Shadow Blur only works in the SVN Version of inkscape.

I agree with freigeist.
However official logo is the thing that should be changed only in some very rare cases.
As for other things: I vote for making good user contributions official:
like Voodo CD cover, your grub/gdm/kdm/etc splashes, walpapers etc (when they will be finished).
Here is the svg, mess around, upload it, whatever...
please provide this nice font too.
Keep up your good work, freigeist!
/me wish to see the complete themeset made by you.

As already posted in another thread the font is Space Age. Be aware that it is free only for personal use...

If you convert the text to paths in Inkscape and then post a link to that, other people won't need to have the font installed to mess around with the SVG file...granted they won't be able to edit or add any more characters, but they shouldn't need to in most cases.

Thanks for the tip...here is the svg with paths instead of text

Fantastic work - I really like 9 and 12.

O.K. I think number 12 is the winner (like number 9 but with the correct space between Arch and Linux). Therefore I try to make another theme based on this design (without the four arches and with the original logo). Any help making the kde stuff (kdm, kde splash, kbfx) is appreciated because I don't use kde on my system. Please drop me a note if you are willing to help...

I cannot halp with KDE (though if I get to my VMware next week I may try it), however I can help with grub, slim, xfce & gdm.
(we have Christmas tomorrow, so I will be back at PC in two days only).
