Service upgrade should restart

I notice that the services (www/mail/ftp... server) didn't restart when upgrade,
but the other Linux Distro. would did it.
Why Arch don't do it?

Re: Service upgrade should restart

it's up to the admin to check for changes in the related config files and decide if it is safe to restart the server and when he wants to do that.

So, we have to manual to restart services?
I hope it will auto restart becaue upgrade process at midnight by cron,
if have any security issue.

Re: Service upgrade should restart

You will need to script it yourself, in that case.

Personally, I would not recommend unattended Arch upgrades, but it's your choice.

If you're worried about security issues you won't auto upgrade with cron. Upgrading should be down manually because you need to see any postinstall or failure messages.

Re: Service upgrade should restart

As I know, the main Linux Distro. almost do upgrade by cron or service and restart,
they won't worry about that.

But they only provide minor fixes and always keep the version number. So they can expect a service restart as safe.

We are rolling (or thumble) our releases how they come.
