[SOLVED] Vivaldi browser is dying unexpectedly under KDE/Plasma

Since this morning my Vivaldi browser (6.9.3447.44 (Stable channel) stable (64-bit) ) is dying under KDE/Plasma.

These are my system details:

GPU Intel Corporation TigerLake-LP GT2 [Iris Xe Graphics] (rev 01)
Kernel Version : 6.10.10.zen1-1
Plasma Version : 6.1.5-1
KDE Version : 24.08.1-1
Frameworks Version : 6.6.0-1
Qt5 Version : 5.15.15+kde+r4-1
Qt6 Version : 6.7.2-2
Wayland Version : 1.23.1-1
Plasma/Wayland Protocols Version : 1.14.0-1
XOrg/Wayland Version : 24.1.2-1
Mesa Version : 1:24.2.2-1
LibVA Version : 2.22.0-1
LIBVA_DRIVER_NAME=iHD

Yesterday I have seen a number of updates related to KDE FRameworks 6.5.0 -> 6.6.0.
Firefox (130.0.1 (64-bit)) is unaffected as it is Falkon (24.08.1).
Vivaldi is dying even with no page at all and no user interaction.
It's command execution is said to be:

Command Line : /usr/bin/vivaldi-stable --enable-features=VaapiVideoDecodeLinuxGL,VaapiVideoEncoder,CanvasOopRasterization --password-store=kwallet6 --ignore-gpu-blocklist --enable-webrtc-hw-decoding --enable-webrtc-hw-encoding --disk-cache-size=100000000 --enable-skia-graphite --ozone-platform=wayland --use-gl=angle --use-angle=gl --flag-switches-begin --enable-features=VaapiVideoDecodeLinuxGL,VaapiVideoEncoder,CanvasOopRasterization,ChromeWideEchoCancellation,PdfUseSkiaRenderer,SkiaGraphite,Vulkan,WebRtcAllowInputVolumeAdjustment,WebRtcApmDownmixCaptureAudioMethod,WebRtcHideLocalIpsWithMdns --flag-switches-end --save-page-as-mhtml

Is there anyone else experiencing the same?

[UPDATE]
Install/Update adwaita-icon-theme-legacy-46.2-3 package to solve the issue!

Re: [SOLVED] Vivaldi browser is dying unexpectedly under KDE/Plasma

Hello,
I have the same problem. I think that it came with the update of adwaita-icon-theme-legacy
I went back to version 46.2-1 and Vivaldi is stable again.

Edit: a new version of adwaita-icon-theme-legacy (46.2-3) is out just now and it's ok with it.

I will give it a try ... but I am using Breeze also for GTK-based applications... Weird, isn't it?

Same issue EndeavourOS, just ran update adwaita-icon-theme-legacy to 46.2-3, I'll see how it goes.

Not sure what this would actually mean.
It should be a GNOME/GTk related thing.
I am definitely not using "adwaita-icon-theme-legacy": it sits in my system because it is required by  GTKv3, udead by stuff like Firefox, Openoffice, GIMP ...
Weird enough, Firefox was unaffected.
It's gone anyway.

Re: [SOLVED] Vivaldi browser is dying unexpectedly under KDE/Plasma

Vivaldi looks at all icon themes (or it's just because adwaita is kinda fallback) and ends up in an infinite recursion until it eventually dies because the adwaita themes cyclically inherit each other.

I fully trust you, even if it doesn't make any sense to my limited knowledge.
Why should Vivaldi look at GTK3 icon themes when all icons it uses are kinda bundled in and there is a system-wide default icon theme?

Re: [SOLVED] Vivaldi browser is dying unexpectedly under KDE/Plasma

Idk why, but why not? It's the only explanation - if vivaldi would completely ignore the theme it would not be affected.
Please don't trust me, strace it

strace -f vivaldi-bin |& grep -i icons
