[solved] No speaker output intel comet lake & nvidiaTU106

I have been using arch for some time now, few days back i bought asus ROG Strix G17 and installed arch as the main and only system.
now i face a problem which i have never faced. no audio out through speakers and input through microphone

i am able to use the usb c headsets and bluetooth headsets. the speaker is working fine as it plays a tone as the Rog system boots

i have tried for few days fixing this including switching the kernal to lts but no use.
*the output of following are

What's your output for

dmesg | grep snd
pacmd list-cards
pacmd list-sinks
pacmd list-sink-inputs #during playback
pacmd list-sources
pacmd list-source-outputs # during recording

Do you have a timeframe/update that introduced this issue? Likely candidates are new kernel versions or pulse or alsa-lib. FWIW there have been a few changes with regards to jack logic, make sure you are actually up to date and using pulseaudio 14

Nothing sticking out, can you reproduce on the latest kernel? If you use new hardware it's often the case that the LTS kernel lacks certain feature supoort

i have updated it to code please take a look.
at first i installed linux and Linux headers . then the problem was still there. then i tried it with LTS
i will switch it back now

Are your speakers properly plugged in and into the correct jacks? The beep you hear during startup, are you certain that that's coming from the speakers? It could just be the internal MB speaker that doesn't actually come from the speakers and sometimes just the fact that they get a current (... even if plugged into a technically wrong port) makes them emit a crackling noise.

Is the mic plugged in at the same time as the speakers? What's your amixer -c0 ? Maybe disable auto-mute mode if that's enabled.

actually i was talking about the laptop speakers, all headset connected via usb c also works and also the 3.5mm jack also works. all that is not working are the internal speakers of laptop. it works fine when the system is booting up and it plays a music.

That image doesn't tell me anything I don't already know from asking for the relevant outputs (+ I know more than what the image shows from those) and according to all of this everything is "generally" from a software perspective working properly.

Try

amixer -c0 set 'Auto-Mute Mode',0 'Disabled'

This might be an actual issue with how the HW is internally wired for the linux driver if the above didn't help the only other suggestion I have is to try and override the pin definition as is done in this example: https://unix.stackexchange.com/a/358989

To properly do that you will need to install alsa-tools and mask pulseaudio during the override attempt

systemctl --user mask pulseaudio{,.socket} --now #unmask to revert

. Which exact pins you can and should adjust will be card specific though

i tried it but  i am getting this error

in the above forum they have a solution for the specific problem for my specific laptop but the problem is i have no files in /etc/modprobe.d/
i added a file and filled it with following line and rebooted but no use

options snd-hda-intel model=asus-zenbook

and  i have  no pulse-audio folder in usr/share.
i don't know weather they are of any consequence and if so is there any solution

the problem is solved

options snd-hda-intel model=asus-zenbook

adding this line to 

/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf

and then updating the system worked for me.
if that file does not exist add it.
again this code is model specific. so find a model suitable for your machine.
my system was asus rog strix g17.

when i did this fix, i had no volume control.

I fixed it with adding a few lines in the file:

for pipewire:

/usr/share/alsa-card-profile/mixer/paths/analog-output.conf.common

or for pulseaudio:

/usr/share/pulseaudio/alsa-mixer/paths/analog-output.conf.common

I added the following lines before the [Element PCM] block:

[Element Master]
switch = mute
volume = ignore

Thank you @r0bocop

You fixed my issue as I used Pulseaudio earlier and this fix worked for me. But I had to switch to pipewire due to some other issues and couldn't figure out the 0%-100% volume issue file with the [PCM Master] tag. This worked for me!
