Postgres 8.2

Hello, archers!

Happy New Year!
My question is about postgres 8.2. It was released at 2006-12-05. Will it be available in Arch repos?

Or maybe I should build the package myself?
Excuse me, if I post to wrong forum...

Thanks

Re: Postgres 8.2

I'm sure it will touch the repos in some time.

Just has to go trough unstable to stable repo, after it was built by a arch team member, bleeding edge does not mean untested wink.

meanwhile you can checkout the current postgresql build using abs, and build the new version yourself, to see if it works.

I don't think they changed the installation method a huge time...

Re: Postgres 8.2

Thanks, and what should I do to get it via ABS?
I did: 'abs' and my sources tree is new, but I can't find 8.2

Re: Postgres 8.2

Sure not, since it's not yet in abs.

You can use the PKGBUILD as a base for the 8.2 build. Just copy the folder anywhere you like (home dir in example) and start editing it so it will build the new version (probably just the version number? i havn't looked in the script yet).

Building postgresql this way will be the easiest to get an arch-package. It's easy to understand though.... should not be that much of a problem.

I'll go home from work in 10 minutes or... maybe a bit later big_smile .. i can take a look at home, though, i think i'm ill so the lil' blonde waiting will stick my ass into bed if it's so.

Re: Postgres 8.2

Thanks for your help. I did this smile There was some more things to do after changing the version number but not much though.

If anyone interested I may put the PKGBUILDs here
