Example: I have Firefox open on Desktop2 and click a link in Desktop1, this makes Firefox jump to Desktop1.
I would rather have it stay on Desktop2. I think this setting is in about:config, I once found it on a website, but can't find it now.
Any ideas?

Since it is more like a problem of your window manager, it would be nice to tell what you use.

I use Openbox.
But I doubt it has anything to do with it.
The reason I want this tweak is because I accidently deleted the .mozilla folder in my home and now I'm trying to get all the settings I had back.

All you need to do is set it to open new tabs in the background.

Woohooo!
It was "browser.tabs.loadDivertedInBackground" in about:config, just set that to true and Firefox stays on the desktop it was opened in.
Thank you!

15 years later, and it happens again.
For some reason, my Firefox set this to false during the last update.
I'm not even using Arch, but the solution is still working for me.
Thank you!
