I recently noticed to output from
bootctl status
shows "systemd-boot 242.32-3-arch" as the boot loader product in use. Also the "Available Boot Loaders on ESP" appear to have come from "systemd-boot 242.32-3-arch". I think this dates back to the original installation of this system around 2019
The systemd version I am running is 256.7-1 which I updated recently. I am aware of the
sudo bootctl update
command which would presumably update to the bootloader using the file at at /usr/lib/systemd/boot/efi/systemd-bootx64.efi. This is a noticably larger file than the one in use.
I have three questions:
1) Should the boot loaders update automatically and if so where might I have omitted to set this up.
2) Is it recommended to update the bootloaders and does new systemd-boot functionality rely on the latest boot loaders
3) are there any additional stepsto take to update other than
sudo bootctl update
Thanks in advance for any clarity you can bring to this.
