sata hotswap on 939Dual-SATA2 mobo

I'm currently having a http://www.asrock.com/product/939Dual-SATA2.htm mobo.
This motherboard adopts JMicron JMB360 chipset that supports Serial ATAII
(SATAII) hard disk. It also adopts ULi M1567 south bridge chipset that supports
Serial ATA (SATA) hard disks, and supports RAID functions.
I want to use the jmicron controller for hotswapping sata drives, using a default arch kernel (2.6.19-ARCH). I also use gnome-volume-manager to add automounting.
Afaik (http://linux-ata.org/driver-status.html#ahci) libata supports the jmicron chip and so it should have hotswap functionality.
I have the OS hdd on the uli sata1 controller, when I pull out the sata2 drive on the jmicron controller my system keeps running and dmesg reports a missing device. However plugging the device back in gives my a frozen system. Afterwards kernel.log appears to be empty.
My questions are:
1. is hotswapping already possible using libata on this setup?
2. do I need additional kernel patched or kernel config options to enable hotswap for sataII
3. If not what would be the best buy for a PCI 4x sata2 controller card (Promise FastTrak SATA 300 TX4 appears a relative cheap option for me) to have sata hotswapping available in linux?
4. Any sites with additional info on setting up sata2 hotswap?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Re: sata hotswap on 939Dual-SATA2 mobo

Still having the same trouble.. running 2.6.20 now..
Also bought a pci sata card (Promise SATA 300 TX4) but still I can't swap out the drive and swap it back in to make hal/dbus/gnome-volume-manager detect the new drive.. Instead the system freezes and I have to hard reset it.
Anyone any idea?
