Hi!!!
It's been like an year since I updated the system (yeah, I know, I shouldn't leave so much time ), and now I'm getting a last conflict which is quite weird:
$ pacaur -Su
:: Starting full system upgrade...
there is nothing to do
:: Starting AUR upgrade...
:: resolving dependencies...
:: looking for inter-conflicts...
:: pulseaudio and pipewire-pulse are in conflict (pipewire-pulse). Remove pipewire-pulse? [y/N] <-- Here I've pressed NO, as I'd like to continue using pipewire
:: unresolvable package conflicts detected
:: failed to prepare transaction (conflicting dependencies)
:: pulseaudio and pipewire-pulse are in conflict (required by )
The main conflict here was gnome-settings-daemon, but I removed it using pacaur -Rdd so I could avoid needing it for pulseaudio, and now it shows it empty
Outputs I've seen around in the forum looking for an answer:
$ pacaur -Qqs pulseaudio
pipewire-pulse
$ pacaur -Q | grep pulse
libpulse 17.0-3
pipewire-pulse 1:1.2.5-1
Sooo... any hints?
I guess pipewire works better than pulseaudio, right? So far some years ago it did.
BTW, is pacaur good enough for AUR, or is there any other tool that works better for managing AUR packages?
Thanks!

The correct way to invoke a system update is
sudo pacman -Syu
but you probably have a bunch of broken cruft around, what's your output for
pacman -Qm
Offline
Yep, I did the sudo pacman -Syu first, so I didn't use the y flag anymore
And this system is maybe like more than 10 years old, so it's getting old and full of stuff xD

I've managed to be able to upgrade by removing pipewire-pulse and installing pulseaudio in the meantime I'm updating the system.
And now I installed back pipewire-pulse.
What's weird is that dependency that is not being shown
Not sure if tagging the post as solved, of maybe wait for some feedback?
Offline
One of the (AUR) packages w/ have had a hard dependency on pulseaudio, this is gonna be impossible to tell ex post (w/o manually tracing the history of your AUR packages which seems to include gnome2 stuff??)
You might wanna clean up there a bit, eg.
flashplugin 32.0.0.465-1
is probably entirely useless since a decade?
Offline
Oh wow! I didn't notice that one!
Thanks all folks! It's now working properly
btw, would you know about any tool to clean up the system?
Offline
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Pacman … _(orphans)
Be very careful w/ that, under no circumstances just blindly add the cascade switch but other than that it's really just what you're using.
I typically tend to read across the packages to be updated and "wtf did I install that?" see whether I can remove stuff I don't know why it's there.

Awesome! thanks
