Here are some strange behaviors I see:
1. With NO external display connected, after SDDM login, it seems like it starts, then it crashes, but loading continues and after about 15-20 seconds it seems to be working. But this is only when no external monitor is connected and I assume the system runs on the integrated Intel GPU instead of NVidia to render the desktop and basic apps (no games).
2. If I connect my external monitor, which surely enables the NVidia GPU, I am getting and instant Wayland crash and I am back at SSDM login. If I log in, the crash happens again and I need to log in again.
Additional notes:
* I did not change anything in my NVidia modprobe file, it is at was since the release of the 560 open drivers. It contains:
options nvidia_drm modeset=1
options nvidia_drm fbdev=1
* Login in to X11 works, and external display also works, but I'd prefer to stay on wayland to avoid configuring X11 related stuff like Lenovo Trackpoint and other specifics.
What extra can I provide to get some help?
I am also open to downgrading stuff to get back to the previous state of the system. But I don't know what to downgrade to get things working again.

For now, the only solution for me was to revert back to KDE 6.2.0 as explained here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 5#p2202745

I tried all the solutions posted in this forum, nothing worked for me; I had to rollback to Plasma 6.1.5 and Qt 6.7.3 and things are working by now, I guess I should wait a bit to update Plasma and Qt again

Try the updates to plasma-workspace and kwin 6.2.1.1 that just got released.
Offline
Actually that's the version which I had the problems with. Plasma 6.2.1-1-x86_64
Offline
No you're missing a .1, the current versions are 6.2.1.1-1 the second .1 is for hotfix patch releases and done in cases like these by KDE the -1 is the package release and an identifier for when a packaging change with no upstream involvement happened.
tl:dr update your system again, you'll get newer versions of plasma-workspace and kwin which will likely fix this.

It's definitely fixed for me on the last update.

Does not work for me. Did not try X11, just Wayland. Login hangs and never finishes. I downgraded KDE packages back to 6.2.0-1 and Qt packages to 6.7.3-1.

I was about to try the 6.2.1.1 version, but I don't seem to see it available.
Is this very new and not yet available on all mirrors? Or is it on some testing/experimental mirror?

What mirrors are you using? It's been two days it should be on the majority of remotely maintained mirrors now

I just want to make sure we are talking about the same versions:
* 6.2.0 -> works for me, downgraded to this
* 6.2.1 -> this is actually the package 6.2.1-1, right? - this is the problematic one for me
* 6.2.1.1 -> should be a newer package according to your comment, and it doesn't seem to exist.

Yep. Mirrors having issues seem to be the cause. I found the new packages on other mirrors. What's with the Arch mirrors lately? This is like the second time in less than half a year that I hit out of sync mirrors. This was usually not an issue in the past.
Offline
I confirm that plasma-workspace 6.2.1.1 solves the problem presented in this post.
Offline
For grabbing the sync databases if a connection can be established only the top one is actually relevant. So if the one you're using there has issues like these often make sure you use better synced ones. though according to https://archlinux.org/mirrors/status/ the ro.mirror.flokinet shouldn't be too bad.

I updated to the latest packages of everything, including Linux kernel, now Plasma logs in using Wayland, but external monitor is not working it got just a black screen, only the mouse pointer is shown there and moves, but no there are no windows, I moved a window from laptop screen to external monitor, the window is not showing there, just the mouse pointer...
I tried unplugging and plugging the HDMI cable many times, didn't work, logging to desktop using X11 works, but not Wayland

Updated to 6.2.3, now I can say things are working properly finally
Offline
Yeah, it depends on the hardware.
For me 6.2.2 is working perfectly.
With 6.2.3 it is broken again. See: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=300817
Offline
Weird things, I had that problem with 6.2.1 (including 6.2.1.1) and 6.2.2 ... I was keeping 6.1.5 for a while, and with 6.2.3 thinks are working really fine now, even plugging and unplugging the external monitor works fine, in previous versions when I unplugged the monitor and plugged again it wasn't working until a hard reboot, now it works like plug&play as it should've always been...
Hope next update doesn't break things again
