gtkam crash problem

Hi All

I am trying to get gtkam working with my new camera -- I am not getting very far.  As soon as I try to "Add Camera", I get the following error at the console:

kellwood@delos ~ $ gtkam
3661: assertion failed "pending != NULL" file "dbus-connection.c" line 2885 function dbus_connection_send_with_reply_and_block

** (bug-buddy:3663): WARNING **: Couldn't load icon for Open Folder
Failed to read a valid object file image from memory.
kellwood@delos ~ $

I have had gtkam working with a previous camera. Though it was more than a year ago - hence there have likely been several updates to libgphoto2 and gtkam.

This behavior also occurs with root.  Any thoughts?

Thanks
kev

Re: gtkam crash problem

One more piece of information.  I installed gtkam on a fresh arch box and it worked fine.  I am guessing I have some strange configuration problem on my machine at home.

Re: gtkam crash problem

*bump* I'm having the exact same error for all users and root. At the moment I'm using gphoto2 on the command line as that does work for connecting to and downloading from the camera.

Any help appreciated. BTW I haven't had to reinstall Arch since the first install just over a year ago. I don't won't to break my world record.... big_smile

Re: gtkam crash problem

Figured out that hal needs to be stopped for gtkams "Add Camera" to work. This has happened on my old install and fresh install. Crazy.

Re: gtkam crash problem

same problem/errors here. shutting down hal and then adding the camera solves it. big_smile

that's what makes this distro so great. the devs and user base are so knowledgable and on top of things. no searching around for 3 hours through 25 million threads for the fix. i just searched for "gtkam," this thread was the first one that came up, and it solved the problem.

just wanted to say thanks lol smile

Re: gtkam crash problem

I guess I might as well add that hal needs to be stopped for f-spot to import images off the camera.

(I'm not too sure where a bug report should go to for this.... dbus, hal or libgphoto2?)
