My dell latitude 5511 with an original dell dock hangs/halts sometimes when disconnected/reconnected to dock with some relationships to auto suspending (i.e. pc is closed/suspened and then connected to the docking station).
Here is a printout of errors:
kernel: nvidia 0000:01:00.0: PM: pci_pm_suspend(): nv_pmops_suspend [nvidia] returns -5
kernel: nvidia 0000:01:00.0: PM: dpm_run_callback(): pci_pm_suspend returns -5
kernel: nvidia 0000:01:00.0: PM: failed to suspend async: error -5
kernel: PM: Some devices failed to suspend, or early wake event detected
Any advice solving this would be highly appreciated!

Since nvidia shows up in the log, you could try blacklisting nvidiafb, see https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=234646
That said I have a similar sympton on an older thinkpad (intel, no nvidia), which _sometimes_ does not resume after plugging the suspended laptop into the power socket. So, to troubleshoot further you may want to test if it happens without the dock too.
Also, you write it happens when "auto suspending". Does that mean it never happens when you suspend it (close the lid), plug into dock and resume?
