Archiso/mkarchiso creation on OOTB arch livecd stopped working today

I am using an automatic script to generate custom ISO - to do so, I run an OOTB, unmodified arch livecd where I first do pacman -Syu archiso to install it, then after some automatic configurations I run mkarchiso. This worked for years with no issues, until today. Today arch started throwing conflicting package errors, stating that openbsd-netcat conflicts with gnu-netcat. While I can resolve this conflict by removing the package in the livecd environment, I can't skip through this issue when running mkarchiso.
Given that this conflict started occuring on an OOTB system, it seems to me that package maintainers do not test their changes? Perhaps some process alterations are required when introducing new changes? Process discussion aside, does anyone know if/how can I remove a package during mkarchiso process? It seems this may not be possible, as I looked through google and I can't seem to find any fitting solutions?

Re: Archiso/mkarchiso creation on OOTB arch livecd stopped working today

I have fixed my issue by removing the conflicting packages and the ones that depend on them, from packages.x86_64 file - didn't realize that this file contains all of the packages that archiso will install. I still think that development process of archiso is missing some QA steps - it shouldn't be the case for archiso installation on an OOTB arch livecd system to fail...
