Laptop without screen does not boot when hdmi is connected

I have a laptop where the screen was broken and got removed. I installed arch on it and intended to connect it to a tv. However whenever I have the tv connected to it while starting it does not do anything. There is nothing on the tv and there is also nothing in the log. It does boot just fine when hdmi is not connected. Does somebody have an idea what could cause this and how I could fix this?

Re: Laptop without screen does not boot when hdmi is connected

Do you reboot w/ the power button?
Don't.
Frenetically press ctrl+alt+del, use the https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Keyboa … el_(SysRq) or ssh into the system.

Does the notebook have a hybrid GPU setup?
Can you disable one of the GPUs in the firmware? (BIOS/UEFI)

Re: Laptop without screen does not boot when hdmi is connected

Hey, so I have had this problem for months and when I last tested it yesterday it also wouldn't boot. I have no idea why but when I tried just now it just started without any problems. Anyway thanks for the help, that is good to know
