I want to buy a PS2-style controller for PCSX2, but I have a very limited budget and would like to order online. I'm unsure if the Havit HV-G69 USB controller will work with Linux, as it is a Chinese product. What should I do?
Here are the links to the product:

I apologize if I'm in the wrong place to ask this.

Someone got it working on a recent kubuntu install .
The sc-controller software they mention is in the AUR and appears to be actively maintained.
The antimicrox sw that is also mentioned is in repos.
Is the supplier where you want to buy it likely to refund if you send the product back incase it doesn't function as expected ?
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?

don't cheap out on bad cheap chinese no-name rip-off crap
if you really want something good for your money save up and go buy a genuine official game pad from either microsoft or sony directly
1) they're guaranteed to work
2) if you buy them from a regular retail store you get the regular warenty by your country's laws
3) they are really durable - over the past 10 years I bought exactly TWO x360 pads - and the second one only because I somehow mangled the cable of the first one - the pad itself would still work fine with the broken cable fixed
before I bought these genuine ones I wasted so much money on several cheap ones - about a dozen or so? and they all failed within the warenty - don't do that - it's waste of money
if you buy such cheap ones you keep buying them over and over again - save up and invest in a good one and you'll enjoy it for years

@Lone_Wolf Thanks
@cryptearth Thanks for good advice
Ordered the GameSir Nova Lite controller and got a fantastic 50% discount! It has Xinput, NS Pro, and Android modes. Which of these modes do you think would work best with Linux?

well, can only speak about XInput as I have a Xbox pad - but pretty much everything picks it up as such as on windows
lsusb even lists it as such:
Bus 003 Device 003: ID 045e:028e Microsoft Corp. Xbox360 Controller
I'm not sure how it works exactly on the low level - but any windows game implementing xinput should work with no issue using proton anyway
as for linux-native: it actually does depend on the implementation of the application - most emulators also pick it up just fine even if most use SDL - but you also can run into same issue as on windows: if the application/game isn't done with controller support in mind or not use a mapping layer like via steam gamepad input it just doesn't work and you have to rely on mapping it manual
as for other modes: can't relly tell - but as I use sony phones exclusive since pretty much the very first xperia it comes with a playstation controller mode where the phone can connect to the playstation and become a controller (used it a few times over at a friend - worked but felt bad and was complicated to use) - guess the advertised adroid mode is something similar: wireless pairng with your phone and using it as input device - but I have no idea about that stuff
