Intermittent hang on LUKS password prompt with Plymouth

Hey guys,

I have a tricky issue to troubleshoot, and I am seeking recommendations on how to approach it.
My issue occurs early in the boot process on an encrypted disk setup with Plymouth enabled.

When my system boots up with Plymouth enabled for boot animations, I intermittently encounter a hang during password entry.
The animated/stylized prompt for password entry pops up, I begin typing my password, and I can only get a few characters in before it completely freezes. Again, this is before I 'submit" my password. This hang occurs during the entry of the password itself.
At this point, I am unable to even use CTRL+ALT+DELETE to reboot. Nothing gets any kind of response from the system, so I have to hold the power button to reset.

Considering the early part of the boot process, and the lack of obvious log locations to poke around at to learn more, I am at a bit of a loss. Anyone got any ideas of where to start?
Affected system is a Lenovo Yoga Thinkpad 11e Gen 6.

I previously posted about this same issue on the EndeavourOS forums. I was running EndeavourOS but since switched over to Arch Linux and am still encountering the same issues.

Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.

Re: Intermittent hang on LUKS password prompt with Plymouth

Check hook order as per https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Plymouth#mkinitcpio

If it persists, and you use systemd hooks, see https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Plymou … not_update
and https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/ … -/issues/2

In the latter a font from the used theme was missing, causing the prompt to hang.
