how to partition for dual boot up

I had partitioned 500 gb ssd as follows:
1gb uefi
4 gb swap
and remaining for root partition
I wanted to install windows so I tried wiki instruction and tried to make partitions in nvme0n1p3(root)with gdisk but as it's obvious it was very dumb thing to do...
now my question is how exactly I can make partitions for windows on linux(or reverse)without corrupting the files of os that I'm currently using?

Re: how to partition for dual boot up

Shrink the main root filesystem & partition to make room for Windows then run the installer, it should fill the free space automatically with no need to pre-create Windows partitions.

EDIT: it will over-write your bootloader though, so you'll have to redo that to make Arch work again.
