Failed to start virtual console setup (on a portable USB installation)

Hello,

I have an Arch Linux installation set up as a portable system on a USB stick (with journaling disabled). Recently, after performing a system update, I am no longer able to boot into the system. During the boot process, the screen gets stuck on the following error message:

[FAILED] Failed to start Virtual Console Setup

I suspect the issue is related to the recent update, but I’m not sure where to begin troubleshooting since journaling is disabled.

Re: Failed to start virtual console setup (on a portable USB installation)

You can remove 'quiet' from kernel boot parameters and add 'loglevel=6' or even 7. Look what is before error you posted.

Here is how to do it with different boot loaders: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Kernel_parameter

How do you disabled journalctl?
