Internal Microphone missing after upgrade alsa-ucm-conf 1.2.13-1

i am running Arch Linux Gnome on a Zenbook UX3404VC using pipewire audio

- my packages were up to date this morning with no issues. a huge update came in this evening with about 96 packages and when I rebooted I no longer was able to use the built-in mic on the laptop.
- i checked pavucontrol and there is no mic listed in stereo-in/stereo-out config, but when I set it to "Pro Audio" I see two mono mic inputs active but with way different gains... and the output stops working, so that's not it
- i checked against linux-g14, linux-zen, and linux-rt and all had the same issue
- i rolled back package groups one by one and isolated alsa-ucm-conf as the problem. no problems on alsa-ucm-conf/1.2.12-1 with all other packages once again up to date, even the latest alsa-lib.
-after rolling back-- in pavucontrol my options are different: instead of "stereo-in/out" I see "Play Hifi Quality Music" which I now recognize as the way I had it set previously (working).
- sanity check: simply upgrading alsa-ucm-conf (1.2.12-1 => 1.2.13-1) recreates the issue and changes my options in pavucontrol

anything else I should check for interactions? or is this definitely an issue with the package?
anywhere else this should be posted for visibility to the maintainers?

Same issue here with a Thinkpad X1 Carbon (Gen 12). I wrongly assumed it was due to a regression in the kernel after upgrading to 6.12, but this morning I booted with linux-lts and still same issue. Your post saved me some time wink

Re: Internal Microphone missing after upgrade alsa-ucm-conf 1.2.13-1

btw, 2 questions:
- how did you downgrade? I dumped my local cache and can't find the previous version online anywhere
- isn't this simply a configuration issue with the new version? I'm not really familiar with alsa configuration details, but I can imagine that we "just" need to tinker with alsa settings to get our microphones back..

You should be able to find the previous versions here: https://archive.archlinux.org/packages/a/alsa-ucm-conf/

you can use the downgrade script from AUR.
yay -S downgrade
and then simply, downgrade alsa-ucm-conf

Was going to revert the kernel, but this post saved me some time.

Same here with ThinkPad T14 Gen 3.
