Quick Fluxbox Question

Hello,

Does anyone know a program that will display the desktop in Fluxbox? I'm looking for something along the lines of Gnome or Kde where it shows the desktop items. Thanks!

Have you tried to turn it off and on again?

Re: Quick Fluxbox Question

You can use the rox file manager to accomplish that, too.  It's mentioned in this guide.

Re: Quick Fluxbox Question

Rox as the desktop didn't work out for me because it wouldn't let me right click to open the fluxbox menu.

When I typed make install as root to install fbdesk, i get this error:

(const char*) [with T = FbDesk::Icon::TextPlacement]'
make[2]: *** [fbdesk-FbDesk.o] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/ameen/Desktop/fbdesk-1.2.1/src'

Read the guide I included in my previous post.  If using rox as a desktop, you need to do the following in rox to get the fluxbox menu with right clicks:

Once you have Rox running, you need to retrieve the Fluxbox menu, or you won't be able to quit Fluxbox or run any of the programs!

   1. Right-click on the Rox Pinboard and choose Rox-Filer --> Options.
   2. Choose Compatibility from the menu on the left and check the boxes for Pass all backdrop mouse clicks to window manager and Blackbox root menus hack under Window manager problems.

Re: Quick Fluxbox Question

You could try idesk.  You will need idesk-extras from aur and for editing, get xdialog as well.
