Hello All,
Back in 2005'ish, I was an active participant in these Arch Linux forums. At that time, well approximately 2006, I bought a Mac (PowerMac G5), and migrated from. Linux to Mac OS X. Nearly 20 years later, I am back.
I have a 2003-era Pentium IV system with just 1GB of RAM, and I am looking for a modern Linux system that will install on 1 GB of RAM, 32-bit Intel, not 64-bit. Arch came to mind immediately as it was my favorite, and my "daily driver" for over a year, and I am asking for advice here. Is there a 32-bit, reasonable current, Arch version that I could install on said machine, which I am upgrading to 2 GB of RAM as we speak.
Why, after all these years? I want to do some Linux ncurses software development on a retro-computing text editor I authored (VE, see )www.inverary.net/ve) and need a good environment to use. Arch was my favorite all those years ago... does it still support 32-bit, 1 GB hardware?
Thanks!

Try Alpine Linux. It's just like Arch used to be before the bloat took over.

You may also want to try Gentoo. It supports 32 bit and has the ability to trim things down through the use of their "use" flags.
