Headphones mic not working.

I bought Apple's Earpods hoping to use them as a microphone. Unfortunately, they do not work as a microphone in Arch. I dual-boot windows and they work just fine there, so I don't want to hear any hardware dis-compatibility bs. I know very little about sound systems, but tried quite a few things. It may be useful to know that OBS calls my internal mic "Microphone (Realtek(R))" in windows, but in Arch it calls it "Family 17h/19h HD Analog Controller Analog Stereo". (I've looked at pavucontrol too, it shouldn't be an OBS issue). Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Headphones mic not working.

Did  pavucontrol configuration tab have a drop down menu as to connection profile for your earbuds?  I don't own iThings, but I am fairly sure you need a headset profile rather than a high fidelity playback  Bluetooth profile

Re: Headphones mic not working.

I am using the wired headphones/earbuds. There are two profile dropdowns in pavucontrol, those being Raven/Raven2/Fenghuang HDMI/DP Audio Controller, and the Family 17h/19h thing. The Raven profile is off, but the Family thing's profile is Analog Stereo Duplex.

Re: Headphones mic not working.

New info, no matter whether the headphones are or are not plugged in, sudo hdajacksensetest -a doesn't show the external mic is present, but shows the headphones are.
