Geary and contacts

My understanding is that Geary should be able to access Gnome contacts but it doesn't seem to be working.  My contacts are linked to Nextcloud and Evolution has no problems using them but auto-completing email addresses does not work with Geary.  Is there some configuration option that I'm missing somewhere?

Missing dependency?  I just tried Geary on a Debian Trixie installation and contacts integration works fine there.
