hey i've been messing around with arch for a few months now, love it to bits. today i decided to go back to xfce for a change, but upon trying to pick up xfce4-svn:
pacman -S xfce4-svn xfce4-svn-extra
it downloads everything up to xfdesktop-svn and says (several times):
failed downloading xfdesktop-svn-23995.pkg.tar.gz ... No such file or directory
does this mean broken package or what? my repos are all active and up to date... any ideas anyone?

That pkg was corrupted on me. I reported it as a bug - i dunno what happened. I also found that it depends on xfce-mcs-manager but that is not listed.

Tried it just now. Still broken

ok for anyone experiencing the same problem, i managed to make it work by manually going to ftp.archlinux.org and downloading the xfdesktop-svn package and its dependencies, then installing them manually (pacman -A). then i did the pacman -S xfce4-svn to get the rest and that seemed to work.
for admin, maybe someone could fix the package and/or db.

I'm too damn lazy to go do it manually. I'll just wait for it get fixed. Meantime, I'll just stick to hacking FVWM

That could be a while...

This happened to me with three separate packages. I've tried to download them from diffrent repos, but with "pacman -S" they appear corrupted. Not with "pacman -A"
Check this out;
xarchiver-svn-23988-1 [################] 100% 363K 254.6K/s 00:00:01
checking package integrity...
error: archive xarchiver-svn-23988-1.pkg.tar.gz is corrupted
[root@pelle1 pelle]# cd /var/cache/pacman/pkg/
[root@pelle1 pkg]# pacman -A xarchiver-svn-23988-1.pkg.tar.gz
loading package data... done.
checking for file conflicts... done.
installing xarchiver-svn... done.
Is "pacman -A" bypassing integrity check, or is this a bug?

As far as I know the problems still exists. I worked around the issue by doing a
pacman -Sw xfce4-svn
This will download all the necessary packages but thunar-svn and xfdesktop-svn will be corrupted. By browsing the repo via FTP you will find more recent versions of those packages though. Combining these two with the other packages will give you a working xfce4-svn, at least it did for me.
