Hi so soon im moving somewhere that wont have access to ethernet so was attempting to get my wireless connection working and noticed that doing "ip link" only shows the loopback and my ethernet connection (enp4s0) however no wireless network. I then checked my loaded drivers in "lspci -v" and on the wiki for network configuration/wireless and in there they have a device for a "Network controller" however i have nothing of the sort. Just below they seem to mention something about a USB device and i dont know if mine is a USB device, i have 2 of the "USB Controller" in the lspci output one for ASMedia and one for Gugabyte, are these related to the network managing for wireless networks, my ethernet device and driver work fine its only wireless. Are these the issue or is it a different issue? help is appreciated as this is likely the last time i can actually download things onto my pc before im already stuck without ethernet. Thanks a bunch!
heres the output of "lspci - v":

"USB Controller" in the lspci output one for ASMedia and one for Gugabyte, are these related to the network managing for wireless networks,
Hi, no, I don't think so.

But you think that you have integrated WiFi? Have you used it before, e.g. another OS?
https://security.archlinux.org/package/lshw
sudo lshw -C networkOffline
well i would kinda expect at least the driver to work. i understand the wifi not working immediately with a manager but theres not even a device that can pick it up i can find.
running "sudo lshw -C network" gives:

Apparently, you have no wireless device. You could try to buy one that works easily with Linux. I can't recommend one. I have a Linksys USB WiFi, but I have to manually install an open source driver and it may need update e.g. if install new kernel, so you want to spare yourself that if you can. Perhaps someone here can recommend a USB WiFi brand that's easy to use with Linux (if you decide to buy one).

Oh really because, sorry i should have specified, im almost certain back when i used windows with this pc i connected to the wifi at least once or twice(then again i could be misremembering). I notice i should have specified that. If that really does mean that i need to get a whole new device for wifi then yea, anybody that might be tuned in, do you have any recommendations? If not ill prob just go with some TP-Link one that prob has a driver that i can easily get, assuming i need one

Yes, I sympathize with the confusion but there's no indication of a WiFi device on your machine. Perhaps you used a USB before and it has been removed since?
Best wishes!

Sanity check: which board is this? Is windows still installed?

Oh no i cleared all my partitions when i installed arch a while back, assuming u mean motherboard im on a Gigabyte B550 GAMING X V2

There're multiple revisions of the board, but none seems to come w/ wifi
https://www.gigabyte.com/at/Motherboard … v-13/sp#sp
If you didn't install a wifi adapter yourself, there's simply none.
Please always remember to mark resolved threads by editing your initial posts subject - so others will know that there's no task left, but maybe a solution to find.
Thanks.

yes ok got it thank you for the clarification on that because im really not great with hardware standards ect so its nice to know i wasnt messing up some major part of network setup and i simply was supidly missing components XD.
thanks again and will mark post as resolved as i forgot to do so!
