A few days ago i decided to set up printing using cups, after setting it up i chose to print out a test page and it printed one out. However that is all it would print, i tried printing an image from the internet, and it printed out another test page, same thing happened when attempting to print from the command line. I used lpq and lpstat to see ongoing processes and made sure there were none. I tried to reconfigure the printer and use the official drivers for the type of printer i had. I tried to uninstall and reinstall cups. i also updated my system.
None of these worked and im very confused, i would appreciate any help
I am also using an Epson ET-3760 printer, and downloaded and used the epson-inkjet-printer-escpr2 package from the AUR for the driver.

At some point we need a thread of the funniest bugs
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/CUPS/T … #Debug_log
Raise the debug level, restart the cups service, try to print something and post the log.
On a limb:
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/epso … ter-escpr2 depends on ghostscript and at least all the broadcom drivers silently rely on https://archlinux.org/packages/core/x86_64/which/ to find it - maybe the epson filters have the same "problem"…

Please use

tags. Edit your post in this regard.
Edit: there's some interaction w/ the webservice (localhost:631) but no apparent print job.
The tail in the wiki is just an example to look at, well, the tail of the log.
If the log file is too large (very possible) post it to 0x0.st
cat /var/log/cups/error_log | curl -F 'file=@-' 0x0.st

E [01/Dec/2024:18:01:45 -0600] [Job 1] cfFilterGhostscript: cfFilterGhostscript: Unable to launch Ghostscript: gs: No such file or directory
All jobs but 27 & 28 failed for missing ghostscript.
Job 28 seems to succeed - did you forget to clear the filter queue of all your failed jobs?
Also check /var/spool/cups

how do i clear the filter queue of failed jobs?
lprm -
? Thats the only thing i can think of
Offline
You could also look at the open jobs in the webinterface and the forementioned /var/spool/cups (which is root:cups, so you'll probably have to sudo that)
Notably /var/spool/cups/tmp/ should be empty.
you btw. cancelled job 27, so the only thing that ever could have worked was job 28 on 06/Dec/2024:12:05:10 -0600

Hello, i got the printer working, and it was very easy actually. All i had to do was choose the "find network printer" option, put in the printers IP, click "find". Then i chose the one named Epson-ET-3760, and it worked! i was manually putting in the printers ip and other settings in the past, which was probably why it wasnt working. Thanks for the help
