I've recently setup an ldap server and integrated it with evolution but I have a problem with automatic address look ups.
Using the internal address book, as I type the name into a new mail it fetches the closest matches, with ldap it doesn't. If I click the To button and type the name into the Search box it then brings up the matches in the Contacts list and I can chose. At the bottom of this dialogue it says "bad search filter".
What do I need to do so that addresses typed into the top of mail work as they used to and what does "bad search filter" mean as it is working ok?

Same problem here,
It DOES however do autocompletion in the To, Cc and Bcc fields! (if enabled

I get no auto completion anywhere :-(
I posted it on what I think is the official evolution forum (http://forums.novell.com/group/novell.s … ticle@1687) and got one reply from someone else having the same problem but no fixes.
Is this worth raising as a bug?

I suppose it depends on your configuration. Mine works fine with:
Using distinguished name: uid=fallen,ou=Users,dc=quadronyx,dc=com,dc=au
Search base: ou=Users,dc=quadronyx,dc=com,dc=au
Search scope: Sub
Search filter:
(empty)
These of course match my LDAP configuration also.

I have similar:
search base:
ou=addressbook,dc=myserver,dc=comlogin
uid=robin,ou=users,dc=myserver,dc=comI have the addresses in a different section to the users so that explains the addressbook/users difference.
Search scope is sub and no filter.
The whole thing works when I popup the to box but just not with auto-complete which is why I'm not sure how to procede. If it just didn't work then I would have something to work with but partially working is harder I reckon.
