No, the original issue was stuttering when I pressed any key or moved the mouse after a few minutes of running a game. That seems to be gone now, but now there is input delay everywhere, at all times. This wasn't present in 6.11.

Then we shall look at either the situation w/ the LTS kernel or you can also just try the behavior of the upcoming 6.12.2.arch1-1 - the simpledrm hack has been restored

Sounds good, I'll try the new kernel when I get home from school and I'll update after I playtest for an hour or 2.

Nope, added testing repos, did a full system upgrade and now it won't go to SDDM. Guess LTS is the only way smh my head
Offline
Testing is all or nothing and I guess you just broke the nvidia driver installation?

I don't really care, as I can comment the testing repos and system upgrade again. Also, I didn't upgrade nvidia-utils as there was a conflict with lib32-nvidia-utils (this is probably why it won't boot with Zen). The Novideo drivers seem to be working perfectly (sadly) with LTS.

So will commenting testing repos reverse me breaking the Novideo drivers (which seem fine to me)?
warning: linux-zen: local (6.12.2.zen1-1) is newer than extra (6.12.1.zen1-1)
oh shit

In doubt wait until the 6.12.2 kernel hits core.
Do not install selected packages or repos from the testing variant, it will cause troule.
All or nothing.

Now I can't even system upgrade to get the normal packages again (check reply edit) what do I do? Nevermind, the wiki says it, sorry for the dumb question

Basically, the original issue has been solved now. Just needed to switch to LTS I guess. And I'll wait for the new Kernel to reach normal repos. Also mandatory fuck Nvidia

I started having similar issues to this recently as well. It seems to only happen with my mouse, and only after playing a game for a bit (I haven't timed it or anything, it just seems to randomly start). My FPS, for example, will hover around 100 for a game. Then once the "bug" kicks in, anytime I move the mouse my game tanks down to <50fps and stutters like crazy. If I don't move the mouse at all, or I switch to controller then I have zero issues.
I took the advice above about switching to the LTS kernel and was able to play for probably an hour or two without any problems. Hopefully that fixes things for now. Also fwiw I have an AMD CPU and GPU, so it doesn't seem like it's specific to Nvidia, assuming our issues are the same.
One more note for other people having the same problem: I saw a ton of comments about how it was mouse polling rate, and I tried lowering that to 150hz and that didn't help at all.

Wayland, X11 or doesn't matter?

"Only" or is this a hybrid system?

Is keyboard input also affected?
If not, what if you lower the https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Mouse_polling_rate ?

I think he said decreasing the mouse polling rate does nothing

Sorry, I stopped reading after amdgpu and went into inquiry mode - very bad habit

Everybody is faster than me typing on my phone.
To answer the first question, I mostly use Wayland, but I also tested in X11 and it didn't change anything. If anything, I've noticed that games run slightly worse overall in X11.
And my system is ONLY AMD.

I'm typing on a phone too brah. You're just too slow.
Anyways, today, I noticed that the issue hppened again on LTS. But this time, it took way longer to happen. Like twice as long. I was running a certain anime game (those who know?) with a certain launcher and an fps unlocker. Both mouse and keyboard affected it equally. I noticed that once when I just held the W key pressed after a few seconds the stuttering would stop. Also, I'll try connecting a controller when or if it happens tomorrow. I thought about filing a bug report for Linux, but that's probably foolish.

Update: Switching to the LTS kernel _did not_ fix things for me. Games still randomly decide to drop to <30fps (often closer to 5 tbh) whenever I move the mouse around. Only fix is completely restarting the game.

Guys, it happened again today. It took like 40 mins for it to happen while I was playing GoreBox, a Windows game ran using Proton GE. And, as you said, controller is unaffected. The thing is that I run all my games using gamemode. Maybe that's the culprit? Do you also use gamemoderun?
Offline
Another update: Closing the game, then starting it again seems to only keep the issue from happening for a short time. So restarting the game is not that good a workaround.

I've tried it with and without to no avail. It's happened for a few different games, some of which I've tried gamemode and/or gamescope, and games without either.

The worst part is being unable to test changes quickly. Every change I make requires playing and waiting for the inevitable
edit: Found this after Googling even more, and it seems like it could be related. Will have to try out the LD_PRELOAD fix later: https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/issues/4436

So keyboard¹ and mouse trigger this but not some "controller" (I guess some gamepad)
How are these things attached to the system?
USB? Bluetooth? Some logitech dongle?
¹Does it, /without/ using the mouse at all?
I noticed that once when I just held the W key pressed after a few seconds the stuttering would stop.
So eg. use the controller and then try to trigger the problem w/ the keyboard.

I've noticed that it starts happening while moving the mouse. So it's probably the mouse that starts it. Both that and my keyboard are 1000hz polling rate, and they are connected by USB. My "controller" is some PS4 gamepad that works out of the box on Linux.
So eg. use the controller and then try to trigger the problem w/ the keyboard.
what exactly do you mean by this?

Play the game w/ the PS4 controller (usb or BT? I know you could use it wired or wireless on the PS4) and randomly use the keyboard as well to see whether that triggers it.
Have you tried mouse/keyboard on different USB ports
(notably usb2 ./. usb3)?
