[Solved] WiFi occasionally ceases functioning on MacbookPro14,1

Hello,

I've never had a great time with WiFi on Linux. Usually I avoid the issue entirely by using Ethernet with an access point next to my system, but this isn't viable for a laptop I use for school and other things.

I had trouble setting it up at first, but I got it to work. The laptop I use is a 2017 Macbook Pro (MacbookPro14,1), with a Broadcom bcm4350 wifi card. I use the brcmfmac kernel driver with NetworkManager. I tried wl and b43, but neither work.

Usually it works great, but occasionally (often after opening it after it having been closed for a while), it entirely stops working. Rebooting, then loading brcmfmac via modprobe reveals a strange MMIO error. It's working now and I don't remember exactly what I said, but it was something about not being able to read the chip type and something to do with MMIO. I know I probably sound really silly, I have no idea what I'm talking about. As soon as the issue manifests itself again, I will record the exact error and send it here, since this vague description probably isn't helpful.

The issue only lasts around 10-20 minutes; soon after a reboot fixes it.

Ironically, WiFi issues were the entire reason I switched to this laptop. Then again my previous laptop was a chromebook running coreboot I got in 2017, so I've always had issues with scuffed solutions on that thing.

I'm completely puzzled. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update: The issue manifested (and subsequently fixed itself) again. I copied all the logs from dmesg that were printed when the brcmfmac driver failed to load. Here they are below:

Update: Due to numerous other issues, I've distrohopped to void linux. The issue has since stopped occurring. Sorry for the rather un-useful post for anyone else experiencing the same problem.
