nb. that the OP uses i3 on X11 but your screenshots show sway - do you get the same behavior w/ i3 or is it limited to sway?
Also
during those things start lagging, mouse moves slow, videos stutter, etc
but the OP seems to have faced audio stutter specifically, so you're probably off topic.
In that case please report your first post to get split off into its own thread.

The images are screenshot of three different terminals, and as you can see they are not simple text output that can't be copied as text

I don't believe the issue to be related to sway as I had same behavior when using XFCE. Nevertheless, happy to create a new thread if necessary.

Not really, as you can see bellow he's complain is of performance, not audio lagging.
I have been using Arch Linux for about 5 years now. Just recently I decided to try Nixos, didn't like it, and switched back. But, since I reinstalled Arch, I have a very poor performance. Not having experienced this before, I really don't know where to start to find out what the issue is. The performance is really bad when I am having video calls, using Slack or Teams (with Vivaldi, Chromium, Edge, etc). Nixos performed so much better, so I really believe it is a setup thing, something I am missing.

Yes, can. Leaving aside that you could redirect the output immediately, you can also use script to record terminal sessions.
But regardless: don't embed large images.

I have been testing, without picom, for 2 days now. No improvement at all. Still stuttering audio, especially when using teams (with Vivaldi and Chromium, both with Video Acceleration). Anything else I can try?

How does

(The calculation result will be the same and look familiar, only the duration matters as a poor mans CPU benchmark)

mouse cursor lags a lot
video shuttering and in many occasions stops and shows loading circle
audio if it's a video obviously shutters with it
audio if I'm on a call and talking people tell me they couldn't hear me well and I have to repeat
basically, the computer becomes unusable for a few seconds until the issue passes.

Device is a laptop with nvme, and in the past it had run fine. Similar to the original post here, after a re-installation of Arch this issue started showing, I've switched to Manjaro a couple weeks ago to test and same issue happens.

quick update to add, the issue is not happening only when video or calls are happening.
This morning I had multiple occurrences without any of those two actions taking place.
I've have full sysstat collection with 1s interval during the times it happened, hopefully they will help me identify the cause.

So your single-core performance takes a massive hit.
Have you monitored "top" to see which process(es) consume(s) the CPU during these episodes?
almost as if there's a scheduled task that takes place (let's say every 5min)

Yeah, from everything I've seen I keep thinking there's some kind of task scheduling not working optimally. But don't know where to look for it, so trying to collect information from every place I can.
CPU governor is already set to performance:

Interrupt storm?
Does something in
watch -n.5 cat /proc/interruptsgo wild during such episode?
Also monitor "dmesg -W" whether some device or bus flares up at the time.

lol, yes I know.... in my attempts to find a working solution I keep switching (mostly the work browser used for MSoffice apps), but no matter which one I use (and believe me I tried them all) issue persists.
The standard setup is chromium running 3 separate profiles, but currently running chromium for MSoffice and 2xfirefox for the other required profiles

Not really, at first it seems to have helped but some minutes after, testing with youtube video shorts, the problem persists.
I've added to the kernel and rebooted, again initial tests seemed OK then a few minutes later problem continues.

Did some changes today, after reading around articles for performance of low latency Linux.
# Default limits for users of pipewire
@pipewire - rtprio 95
@pipewire - nice -19
@pipewire - memlock 4194304and added my user to group pipewire (could have been any name, but went with the same as the article)
Also playing aroudn with tuned profiles, currently using accelerator-performance
I noticed during tests what Firefox performs worst, after applying the above changes it would still have issues sometimes whilst Chrome didn't, so ditching FF for a while to see if it helps.
Haven't had problems this afternoon with videos, didn't have to get into any teams call so don't know if it will help with that also. Let's see how it goes on the next days

Before 6.12?
Does it happen w/ an older kernel (6.11 or the LTS one)?
Are there any bus errors, timeouts etc. in the system journal?
Quite frankly: does it happen with arch-archlinux instead of manjafor-notquitearchlinux as well?
How's you swap/zswap/zram configuration (do not use zswap and zram together and do not use zswap w/o soem actual swap to back it)?
