Managed to crash my arch...

Okey this time I think I screwed up pretty bad...

Tried installing the beyond kernel and when i did so I read the part about pata... Now I wish I didn't...

Well I wanted to try it out so I changed my mkinitcpio and used the [pata] hook instead of the [ide] hook, I also changed fstab and grub to use sda instead of using hda.

And now when I boot I get kernel panic... Just great...
From what I've managed to understand from the booting process it doesn't load either the [ide] nor the [pata] hooks but I'm not sure...

And when trying to chose boot option it says blablabla and I need to change something from:

(sd0,0)

to:

(hd0.1)

to get it to boot at all.

And just before it dies (kernel panic) it says error unable to do something /dev/sda3 something something... have tried changing that to hda3 but it didn't help....

Sorry about the low details on the error message but I'm tired and... well I'm tired, an update tomorrow with more details is very likely.

Your original kernel is still installed, right? So reboot with that one - it will be a lot easier to figure out what went wrong once you have a working system again.

Your original kernel is still installed, right? So reboot with that one - it will be a lot easier to figure out what went wrong once you have a working system again.

Yep it's installed but as clever as I am I created the .img with [pata] there to before trying it out...

Is there anyway I can edit fstab without starting the system with my kernels?

EDIT: Okey I've read around some and found one thing I did wrong.
I didn't configure ext2 under modules in mkinitcpio.conf so now the booting processes is probably halted by that.

Any fix?

Have you tried editing fstab with a live cd?

Nope, don't have a live cd at home... Guess I'll have to download one then.

Well now I have tried editig fstab without success so now i guess would be a nice opputunity to kick windows out of the picture completly and try the new 0.8 installer
