Hi, it looks like in Dolphin 24.12.0, the default display style of "folder view" has changed when we opt in for having a per-folder style.
With earlier versions, my default style was "Details". Now it has switched to "Icons", with apparently no option to set the default style. Extremely annoying.
Has anyone run into the same thing? Just curious. Having to manually set the style for each folder is pretty annoying. And everyone probably has a different prefered default style, although I'd venture that, just like me, many other Linux users will tend to prefer the "Details" style by default and only use the "Icons" style sparingly.
So, did I miss anything, is there a "fix" to this? Thanks. Would like at least confirmation of this new behavior.

Very annoying indeed... I would also be very interested in a "fix".

Probably https://invent.kde.org/system/dolphin/- … fcdb7443a5 and especially the innocent looking change to code here which might lead to it only loading it from code rather than from the config file... or so. Technically if I'm reading this right you might be able to restore this if you add "ViewMode=1" to the [Settings] section in your .config/dolphinrc file -- though this didn't quite work on a test here. But this should probably become configurable anyway so might be worth a bug report on bugs.kde.org

Seems this is already fixed upstream:

- https://invent.kde.org/system/dolphin/- … a6dff8370e
[update] Yep, with the patch Dolphin behaves as expected again

Ah right, must have skipped past that when checking yesterday. Seeing as Arojas is busy triaging we might get a back port... otherwise I'd assume 24.12.1 not being far away.

24.12.1 is scheduled for January 09. Considering the holidays: Not good, not terrible.
