New to Arch Linux

I'm new to Arch Linux, but not to Linux. I used Linux Mint for 15 years.
I decided to try Arch Linux and now I'm keeping it!

I have a question for you: LibreOffice is now version 24.8.4
I installed LibreOffice fresh so I have 24.8.3 version... will it be updated to the latest version automatically by Pamac the package manager I have?
Thanks in advance.

Re: New to Arch Linux

Welcome to the Arch side. smile

In Arch, LibreOffice is shipped in two versions. One version is tracking upstream releases, in package libreoffice-fresh, and it has all the features newly added in the official LibreOffice version. There is also version, which lags behind a bit, in package libreoffice-still, for people wishing less surprises.

Each package is updated independently of the other. There is no difference with libreoffice-still/fresh compared to other packages in Arch. As soon as you do -Syu and a new version is available in the repositories, it’s being updated.

Note that, if you’re a new to Arch, it may be a better idea to not use AUR helpers. In particular not as a replacement for using pacman directly for system maintenance.
