FYI: Beryl update information

I was finally able to update beryl. There are some changes to be made:

* Delete your whole $HOME/.beryl, otherwise beryl-settings won't work
* beryl-vidcap hasn't been updated, as it makes the X server crash if it is installed (took me some time to find that out).

Re: FYI: Beryl update information

As beryl-settings is python now, maybe it needs pygtk. I cannot really check for python dependencies, so they may be incorrect.

Re: FYI: Beryl update information

I'm a bit confused about beryl: in the official repos there is beryl-svn, the stable version of beryl is in aur.
Shouldn't it be the other way round, or is there a reason for this?

Re: FYI: Beryl update information

Beryl  cannot be called stable. The releases are milestones (features, etc.). The developers intend to go for a real stable release with version 0.2 if I got the blog entry right.

So, in the current state, the SVN versions is the one with the least bugs ...

EDIT: 2.0 --> 0.2  roll

Re: FYI: Beryl update information

As explained in the wiki, beryl will hit extra with version 0.2. The first release candidate for 0.2 is scheduled for February 1st, so expect a release two or three weeks after that.

Thank you, I will add it to the dependencies for the next beryl build.

I didn't have to do this? Although I had a few things change on me (like wobbly windows had turned on).
