for study needs I would like to connect a second keyboard with Cyrillic characters: mine is 105 keys while the Russian is 78 keys. Can the single user have two different configurations for the keyboard or is it better to create a second user and associate only the Russian one with it? Thank you for your answers.

That very much depends on the environment you want to use them in .
Console, graphical, both ?
X , wayland ?
What is your DE / WM / wayland compositor ?
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky

Graphical environment, for use with Libreoffice with DE KDE and wayland.

wayland does support xkb , but configuring it is tricky .
KDE plasma uses xkb and has options to make configuring easier, look at System settings > Input Devices > Keyboard .

Thank you for your response. I already tried this way, but I can choose multiple mappings for the keyboard ( I have both Italian and Russian) but it only allows me to configure one keyboard model. Currently to type with the Russian mapping I have to look at the layout on the screen for key matching. I ordered the keyboard with Cyrillic characters. i will try to use it by turning off the other one, and using the Russian mapping, hoping for a match.

me I solved by connecting the Russian keyboard and adding Russian mapping in the settings. I can write in Cyrillic even though the two keyboards have different sizes ( it = 105 keys; Russian = 78 keys). The important thing is that both until connected ll boot. Occasionally the Russian keyboard gets the characters wrong ( I still have to figure out why) but it is enough to end the session and re-enter for it to then work correctly.
