Title.
I got this no-brand chinese trackball with one of those generic wireless dongles, it worked fantastically for some 3 weeks until these last 2 days it started becoming unresponsive after logging to plasma.
Thought it was the dongle since it also has a bluetooth mode and that one works perfectly, however libinput does show it when listing devices and, here's the kicker, running libinput debug-gui inside the plasma session detects every input/motion correctly but returns to being unresponsive when I close or alt-tab out.
Any ideas to what can be causing this?
Another thing worth noting is that list-devices (and the mouse config screen of kde) also show a bunch of older mice I'm not longer used and are (obviously) not plugged, wonder if that is causing the issues?

Is this down to plasma/X11 ./. plasma/wayland ?
(Does "libinput debug-gui" run as Xwayland client?)
If it doesn't work on X11, what's the output of "xinput list" and your Xorg log, https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Xorg#General

debug-gui is running on xwayland, plasma is a wayland session.
