Possible to git clone entire AUR without one branch per package?

I need to be able to search through all PKGBUILD files for keywords that the AUR web interface will not allow. Is using git to cloning the entire AUR possible to do this? The wiki shown how to but with packages in their own branches, not all together.

What stops you from extracting the files from all the branches once you've cloned the whole repository?

Do the metadata archives contain the information you need?
