Re: Acer laptop camera not working

You assert that lsusb does not report the camera.  Could you post that output?  Which Acer model is it? Do you dual boot Windows?

Also, when posting, please use BBCode code tags around program output and file contents.  That link is also under every message post box.

Re: Acer laptop camera not working

Well, nothing there looks like a webcam.
This mint thread indicates you are not alone: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=431249

Does windows see this as a USB device?  I wonder if the system is hiding it from you.

Re: Acer laptop camera not working

Yes I went through that forum and some others. But some of them had the camera working before even though lsusb did not show the camera.
I don't know how to check if windows11 is seeing this as a USB device. On device manger under usb its not showing (also, the fingerprint sensor is not showing, they have different catagories). the camera has different catagory there.

Do you happen to have /dev/video1 ?
What if

$ ffplay /dev/video1

?

Maybe it's not a USB camera?

$ udevadm info -a /dev/video0

This is not a USB camera, it is connected directly to image processing unit (IPU) on PCI bus.

Did it work before and just stopped, or it has never worked?
