[SOLVED] Blank screen when booting up QEMU/KVM virtual guest system

I've setup an Ubuntu guest using QEMU/KVM, though Gnome Boxes.
Installation and setup went without a hassled, however, after a reboot I'm no longer able to boot into the machine, the virtual machine seems to be running, but I only get a black empty display, without any error
I'm not well-versed into this sort of virtualization, I usually use Gnome Boxes because it makes it very straightforward to setup QEMU/KVM and libvirt, and Virt-manager to edit machine details if when/needed.

How do I check what, if any, errors that may be logged?

I've found the root issue to be the nvidia proprietary drivers on the host system, which are known to cause issues with virtio-gpu.
I managed to get it working following these hints, but performance wasn't great, and ended up using QXL.
