Hi,
running Postfix+Dovecot+Nextcloud on my ArchLinux server, I discovered this odd behavior:
I'm using Thunderbird connected by IMAP to send mails and this works just fine.
My subscribed calendars in Thunderbird are coming from the running Nextcloud instance on the server.
If I create a new event in Thunderbird to a subscribed calendar and want to invite people to that event, no email is sent at all.
Nothing appears in the logs e.g. postfix and co.
At first I thought, Thunderbird might be the problem, but I tested with an Yahoo-Account and there an email is sent with an invitation.ics attachment.
Could it be a missing configuration?
Does anyone have an idea where to start investigate or have had a similar issue?
Thanks in advance.

I use Thunderbird and Owncloud for managing my calendars. Owncloud uses CalDAV for calendars as well as Nextcloud. So that part of our setup is somewhat similar. A few years ago, I had some problems sending event invites and confirmations because Thunderbird would let Owncloud manage sending the mails. They would not be sent by Thunderbird itself.
There was an option in the calendar-configuration in Thunderbird which let me change how Thunderbird handles these calendars. I hat to set it to "prefer client-side email scheduling".
That fixed it for me, though that was a few years ago...
Here ist a link to the Thunderbird documentation explaining this config: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/en … configured
I am not working with Nextcloud, but maybe you could change the configuration in Nextcloud so that it does not try to handle event-invitations: https://docs.nextcloud.com/server/lates … endar.html
Maybe you could start investigating there. Good Luck!
