After upgrade, names under desktop icons disappeared.
On icon focus a blue thick dot appears instead of filename.
Full filename and details are displayed in tooltips on hover.
Is there an accurate way to fix this?
No config nor permissions been changed.

This may not be the same problem that I previously highlighted. What version of pango do you have? If 1.56 - try downgrading to 1.54.
I haven't figured out what it's interacting with (I have two Arch boxes, and the most significant difference is that the box with the nvidia GPU exhibits problems with 1.56, but not the AMD box.

If you do have pango 1.56, don't downgrade, rebuild your cache. See https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/ … -/issues/6

I'd completely missed that, but re-building the cache has worked.
Thank you.

Cache cleaning had no effect, yet found a clue. In gui desktop setings, re-applied wallpaper and font settings, so that they meet the desired appearance and behavior.
Guys, thanks for answers.
