Hello, I'm trying to install winapps and am running into the following problem each time. I've been trying to search what the issue is, but I can't find anything online and I have followed all the steps in the installation guide for a Docker-based installation.

The issue using the xfreerdp3 command with the relevant arguments to connect to the Windows instance fails as well. I additionally tried searching for a solution to this, but to no avail. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

This is not the right forum for this as WinApps is not even in the official or aur repos. Please report this issue in the GitHub page for winapps
Online
I asked here because it seems to be an issue specifically with the freerdp available from Arch repos.

How can we know exactly what the issue is with FreeRDP if we don't know what WinApps is trying to do? That's why I stated to report this issue to the GitHub, as they know what FreeRDP is supposed to do in this case and can provide more guidance
Online
WinApps is establishing RDP to display windows from within a Windows 11 installation inside docker. As mentioned, it's not an issue I've seen anywhere and I couldn't find anything about the freerdp issue I was experiencing. Perhaps this should've just been scoped to a thread about the freerdp issue, but it does that when I attempt to use any command with freerdp, even freerdp /version.

Yes that would have been the move here. Which package of freeRDP did you install? official or AUR?
Online
I'm using the official freerdp package. Just as reference from the prior comment, this is the output from freerdp /version:
xfreerdp3 /version

Hi xof,
Were you able to fix your issue?
I was trying to install winapps too, but I got the same error. I noticed this though,
I think you might be running whatever docker/podman you set up, in root mode.
I tried doing `podman ps --all --filter name="WinApps"` as user and got no values, but doing the same in root gave me the the docker I expected. Running the script in sudo isn't working for me, so I need to add my user to the podman wheel to use podman without root, and then I'll try.

Have you tried following the instructions listed in this commit: https://github.com/Fmstrat/winapps/pull … d5106870f5

Hi mackin_cheese,
Yes I tried those, didn't help but I also couldn't diagnose it properly.
But I did find a fix for myself! xfreerdp3 has an extra option for trust on first authentication, so I redid everything in docker, and then did
xfreerdp3 /u:MyWindowsUser /p:MyWindowsPassword /v:127.0.0.1 /cert:tofu
to get the cert verified, and then I could run the script as expected! Hope that helped xofu
Edit:
By redoing from scratch, I mean I started with what I wanted my final config to look like, and gave the username and password in the initial compose.yaml. I also used a custom iso for Enterprise Win 10 because the libvirt setup guide said specifically that Home version of Windows doesn't support RDP. I also gave xfreerdp3 as my default command and the localhost 127.0.0.1 in windows IPv4 section in the winapps.conf.

I was doing a Docker-based setup unfortunately. Also, that is from the old winapps repo, the new one is located here https://github.com/winapps-org/winapps.
As for starbr3aker, I was able to directly connect with the xfreerdp3 command, but I do still have some issue on the "Attempting to establish a Remote Desktop connection with Windows" portion for some reason.
