During an update a power outage happened and since then I cannot boot to Desktop.
I have an Intel processor with kde plasma desktop and sddm.
After restoration of power these are the steps I encountered
1. First boot had messages of recovering arch journal and Failed to rebuild dynamic linker cache . Waited on that screen for a long time and nothing happened; forced power off and reboot
2. Second boot had Failed to start Simple Desktop Display Manager . Waited for a long time and nothing happened. Forced power off and reboot
3. Third boot I switched to tty5 and from there I have copied the Xorg log and ldconfig errors from tty5 to a usb which show up each time I try to update my system.
I am posting this from a different Arch machine.

Check /var/log/pacman.log and replicate the exact update by supplying the entire list of packages that was upgraded during the failed transaction to pacman -S and allowing it to reinstall, e.g:
instead of manually entering all packages one by one you can chain some commands together to help:
sudo pacman -S $(grep "2024-12-22" /var/log/pacman.log |grep " upgraded \| installed "|grep -v warning|cut -d " " -f 4|tr '\n' ' ')that is purely an example based off my last system upgrade and will not work for you, it MIGHT work for you if you put the correct date in, its just a guideline to get you on the right track, and yes im aware awk can prob replace the 2 grep commands but im not an awk expert.

Thank you so much for your reply. I tried your command entering the correct date but got some error.
Next I entered all the packages one by one but the ldconfig errors would not let me install any of those packages.
Finally got this command let me install all those packages
sudo pacman --overwrite "*" -S <list of packages>but now I just boot to a blank screen with only my cursor visible.
How do I proceed?

issuing startx from tty5 takes me to 2 tab grey screen terminal.
that means xorg is working and sddm is the problem, i know absolutely nothing about sddm/kde so cant really help there
from a TTY are you able now to run pacman -Syu and install/remove packages without errors ?
