laggy terminal/typing performance

hi,
So I'm pretty new to linux and recently got a new laptop that I freshly set up with arch. Pretty soon after I started installing packages and setting everything up I got very poor performance in terminal and now whenever I type something (even typing this rn) it takes up to a few seconds for the letters to even show up on my screen. This issue remains even in terminal. Apart from typing showing up slowly, everything seems to be working just fine and without any performance issues. The typing always shows up when I start moving my mouse though.

neofetch:

OS: Arch Linux x86_64
Host: 83D3 IdeaPad Pro 5 14AHP9
Kernel: 6.12.9-arch1-1
Uptime: 1 hour, 2 mins
Packages: 924 (pacman)
Shell: bash 5.2.37
Resolution: 2880x1800
DE: GNOME 47.2
WM: Mutter
WM Theme: Adwaita
Theme: Adwaita [GTK2/3]
Icons: Adwaita [GTK2/3]
Terminal: kitty
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS w/ Radeon 780M G
GPU: AMD ATI 63:00.0 Phoenix3
Memory: 2741MiB / 27864MiB

sorry for providing so little details, I appreciate any help!

Re: laggy terminal/typing performance

To narrow things down, can you try another terminal emulator, perhaps good ol' xterm and see if you get the same issue? That's assuming you are running Xorg, not Wayland, of course. If running Wayland, maybe try Alacritty as an alternative.

edit: Oh, I now see you also have typing issues in the Web browser on these forums? That's not a terminal problem then. Back to: are you running X or Wayland?

Re: laggy terminal/typing performance

Try to add "amdgpu.dcdebugmask=0x10" to the https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Kernel_parameters (this will disable PSR)
Shown up w/ slightly different symptoms, https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=301280 - but the output just not updating (but for mouse movements) seems in scope.

Otherwise address the display server question and for X11 please post your Xorg log, https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Xorg#General
